Made in 1964 and praised for its sensitive treatment of real-life problems of the working class. It stars Ivan Dixon and jazz singer, Abbey Lincoln.
American Violet - Oct. 1 6-8pm
A young Black woman working in a local diner in a small Texas town to support her children with no history or possession of drugs gets swept up in a drug raid and thrown in jail. A 2008 film based on a true story with a stellar cast headed by Nicole Beharie as Dee Roberts.
