For the first time since 2020, the Time Travelers will visit the murals inside Woodrow Wilson Middle School. The murals found in the entryway at Woodrow Wilson Middle School were created by local artist, Gilbert Wilson.
He was 28 years old when he completed the work with chalk, using his fingertips!! – Some of the chalk was supplied by the students.
The controversial scenes stood against three dominating forces of the 1930's: war, industrialization, and capitalism.
The Middle School was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. Wilson’s murals were an important component to that recognition.
Tour is free for members of the Vigo County History Center and Indiana Landmarks
or $7.00 adults/ $6.00 seniors (over 60)
